In your first session, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, your background, and what you hope to achieve. This is also a time for you to ask any questions about the process. The goal is to establish a comfortable and trusting environment where you can share openly.
Typically, therapy sessions last 50 minutes. However, the duration can vary depending on the specific service and your individual needs.
The number of sessions varies for each person and depends on your specific goals and circumstances. Some clients find resolution after a block of sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term support. However, for effective counselling a minimum of six sessions are recommended to provide adequate support. We can discuss this together during our sessions.
Each session costs €55.
On occasion it may be necessary to cancel or reschedule a session. Please get in touch with me as soon as possible. Cancellations of less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a full session charge.
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of our therapeutic relationship. What you share in sessions is kept private, with some legal exceptions related to safety concerns. I will explain this in detail during our first meeting.
Think about what you hope to achieve through therapy. Are there specific issues you want to address, or are you seeking support for general feelings of stress or anxiety? Consider jotting down any important topics or feelings you want to discuss. This can help you remember key points during your session and make the most of your time. Therapy is a safe space for you to share your thoughts and feelings. Approach your first session with an open mind and a willingness to explore your experiences.
Remember, it’s perfectly normal to feel a bit nervous before your first session. I am here to support you, and together we’ll create a path forward.
Counselling typically focuses on specific issues and is often shorter-term, while psychotherapy delves deeper into emotional and psychological patterns, usually over a longer duration. Both aim to support your mental well-being, but they may vary in depth and duration.
If you’re experiencing emotional distress, relationship challenges, or a desire for personal growth, therapy can be a valuable resource. If you’re unsure, I encourage you to reach out for a consultation, where we can discuss your needs and explore whether therapy might be beneficial for you.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss any aspect of the counselling process with no obligation.
